The Thames is still fast flowing and full of junk which is blocking up the locks and weirs, but at least it has dropped by at least a meter and a half from where it was this time last week (see photos). So the big clean up is now beginning. We are glad that the pump is now off and our main challenge now, is the smell. Damp, stinky mud which hasn't seen the light of day since 1923 is now lurking under the floorboards - good job we are going to knock down soon!
The sun came out today and the daffodils are poking their heads out which is making things more cheerful, against the backdrop of still flooded front gardens, boats which are now stuck in gardens and on piers. Fingers crossed we will not get any more rain and will continue to head into a sunny spring which will enable everything to dry out...
Tuesday night this week saw great excitement at 150, as we welcomed Hugh Hanna into the team! Hugh has agreed to work with us and build the new house, hopefully starting in early April.. After 2 years of planning and waiting it looks like we will be moving quickly soon!
So now all we need to do is finalise the finances, agree the contracts, find somewhere to live, get the phone lines moved that go across the front, pack up and move out - easy really!
