Today saw massive progress with the first of the many walls starting to grow up towards the sky. Both Hugh and Mav were on site today - seeing as it is a well known fact that your builder is actually more important than your husband, we kept them happy by providing a picnic breakfast of bacon sarnies (but not at 730am when they got on site as it is after all, a Saturday!). The bricks look great, but each pack seems to contain less of a mix of colours than we expected so they are being mixed together across the batches. Approx 800 bricks and 300 blocks went down today - only 27200 bricks and 8700 blocks to go!
As we didn't want to be totally put to shame by Hugh and Mav, we worked hard in the secret garden today - now that the shed has been demolished we need to keep clearing so that we can complete the garden design. My peony has finally flowered, but I was at the tip when it opened fully! Typical... Maybe next year I'll get to watch it open - I'll just camp next to it in a deck chair this time next year, when we will be all moved in and reminiscing about the 'caravan days'!
And Sunday should be a day of rest...!
