The low temperatures might be ok for drying screed but it is heart breaking to go into the house and see the frost and ice in both the inside and outside of the windows!
2014 has seen 150 Laleham Road go through a major transformation this year - it's hard to remember the old house perched amongst the other houses; easier to remember when the site was clear and we were able to demolish the last remaining summer house from the garden, running in a straight line from the garden to the skip without having to go around the building...that made a hard job much easier!
The land under the house saw the light of day again after 91 years - it was still damp from the floods the month before... Then we dug it up, creating trenches that were eventually to a depth that pleased everyone and we could lay the foundations.
It all seems a blur from that point on - dancing on the block and beam floor, then climbing up to the roof to see all the way across the river to Thorpe park and then back across the reservoirs to terminal 5, to this morning - blogging from the house with frost and ice on the inside and outside of the windows.
Roll on 2015 when we will be able to install everything we have bought over the last 18 months (kitchen, staircase, blinds, beds, curtains..!) and there will never be ice on the windows again... Happy 2015!
